It is less than one hour drive from Shannon airport to us! The village of Doonbeg with shops, traditional pubs and restaurants is only a short distance from the house. The area is renowned for the hospitality of its locals and whether you meet them on the road or in the quaint local pubs over a pint of Guinness they'll always have a friendly chat and the craic with you.
What to see and what to do...
A 5 minute walk will take you to the renowned Greg Norman designed Trump International Golf Links course, luxury Hotel and Spa. The par-72 layout features a single loop of nine holes out and nine back, the ever changing wind causing consistent variation in play. Most holes feature five or more tee locations. The area has excellent sea and freshwater fishing opportunities. A number of rivers and lakes offer free fishing for brown trout, Atlantic angling charters are available from Doonbeg (10 mins).
at near Doughmore beach, Baltard Bay, in and around Spanish Point - all ideal and well known locations for surfing. The rolling seas make these areas a surfer's paradise.
Doughmore beach is unsafe for swimming but White Strand Blue Flag beach in Doonbeg is only 15 minutes away and supervised in season. Other supervised beaches are in Kilkee, Quilty, Spanish Point and Miltown Malbay. Kilkee also has an indoor pool, which is open in summer.
Dolphin & Bird watching
Tours for watching the dolphin families in the Shannon Estuary take place from Kilrush Marina and from Carrigaholt on Loop Head Peninsula. The coast between the Cliffs of Moher and Loop Head Lighthouse is also a great place for birdwatching! [more...]

Further sights nearby include Doolin, with the ferry to the Aran Islands, the Cliffs of Moher as well as the Burren limestone landscape with its huge archeological and botanical potential. The sights in and around Ennis - Quin Abbey, Craggaunowen, Knappogue and Bunratty Castles can also be reached in less than an hour
